不是以古諷今就是託今返古。若是前者，實際上佛格森事件與整個Black Lives Matter活動都有它自己的脈絡與當代獨立的訴求，直面事件本身與當下，不是遠比扯個魯迅談中國人、然後文下千篇一律的推文“先知！”、“都快百年了還沒變！”更能切中時弊？如是老人學說網路用語⋯⋯那麼好吧，cringe/corny/phony，現在小孩很難不這麼回嘴吧？

走出电影院的时候片尾的rap的愤怒和自我调侃 走在前面的白人夫妇 看着感觉uncomfortable 但是非常好的事情是 不只是美国黑人来看这个纪录片

2017年6月，获得预告片界奥斯卡最佳纪录片预告片奖项。[3]
影片是根据詹姆斯鲍德温的遗稿拍摄，里面的旁白就是手稿内容，里面用的大部分都是真实的影像照片，所以大部分是黑白照，甚至有的视频故意处理成黑白。
因为是直接按照手稿来拍摄，所以叙事上比较随意，大体上是写了三位黑人运动领袖好友的生平和死亡。
影片让观众重新审视了过去而且是延续至今的种族问题，我们会发现黑人要的不仅仅是选票，也不是看似公平的法规。他要求更加公正的待遇，要求整个社会能正式他们。希望当一个白人被偷时，不会被当做第一嫌疑人，希望在白人眼里，黑人不是忠诚而愚蠢的服务者
